Several 2019 Samsung 8K TVs (Q900RB/Q950R) come with HDMI 2.1 support, but since the new standard hadn’t been certified at launch, Samsung couldn’t tout HDMI 2.1 and eARC support for that matter.Luckily, it only takes a software update to enable the feature on supported devices. It starts like this before you know it it's 2020 and they'll just cancel the update with the hope we get suckered into buying the 2020 soundbar. Now that's no dolby vision, no 2.1 hdmi and not even an earc update. I'm not sure about others but I would buy it just to have true HD Atmos.

the whole reason I purchased it was because of this update, I have the LG C9 which is eARC!if they don't provide this firmware update to allow it, then this soundbar is going back for a refund. Samsung need to up their game and support if they are gonna stay as relevant. Could this mean Samsung wants you to buy the new models? And also for those who have a QLED tv specially the the top tier of qLEDS (Q90, Q80 and Q70) that update or a new One Connect box with HDMI 2.1 compatible with 2019 models would be the right thing to do. Over the years, this method has proven to be good enough to transmit bandwidth of up to 1Mbps.Although this is about three times better than older methods of carrying digital data, anything above 5.1 audio format and hi-res soundtracks encoded in formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are a no-go zone for ARC.As you may have guessed, this is where eARC steps in.
